11 Tips – Presenting your UK Visa Application

The Visa Office caseworkers have put together some tips on how to present a UK visa paper application. Please read below:

  • Allow plenty of time to make your application – If you are making an application inside the UK start compiling your documents at least 60 days before the expiry date of your visa. This will give you time to order certificates, request documents from HMRC and sit your English Language exam.
  • You may make your application for an extension up to 28 days prior to the expiry date of  your current visa.

Brexit – Process for EEA Nationals

EEA Application Process

The UKVI have released a technical paper confirming that they intend to streamline the application process in order to wade through the 3 million possible applications from EEA Nationals living in the United Kingdom.

The new system will be designed from scratch using a digital application  which draws on government data  such as employment records etc. This will minimise the burden on documentary evidence and the overall processing cost for the individual.

Immigration Skills Charge – Tier 2 Sponsors take note

Immigration Skills Charge

Skills Charge – Businesses who employ foreign workers from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) through the Tier 2 visa routes for Skilled Workers and Intra Company Transfer be aware that subject to parliamentary approval, the charge will be rolled out on 6th April 2017.

The Surcharge is designed to encourage businesses to source their skilled work force from the UK resident labour market and to invest money into apprenticeship training for their employees. The skills charge will also help reduce the burden of tax from the Immigration System.
Unless otherwise listed below, all businesses will be required to pay £1000 per Tier 2 migrant per year.

Update – Tier 2 Rule Changes 2016

Tier 2 Changes – Update

Update – Earlier this year the Home office announced reforms to the Tier 2 route for skilled workers following recommendation by the Migration Advisory Committee’s report October 2015. The changes came about on 24th November 2016. Further changes affecting the Tier 2 (Intra company transfer) Skills Transfer route will be announced in in due course.

Marriage Visa UK – If you are a couple and you intend to get married in the United Kingdom you may want to apply for permission to enter the UK known as Entry Clearance. Entry Clearance applies to people who are nationals from outside the EEA. If you do not need a visa to visit the UK ie you are from the United States, you are still required to apply for Entry Clearance for  the purpose of marriage or civil partnership in the UK.

The Immigration Bill 2015/2016 has now received Royal Assent and will be known as the Immigration Act 2016. The Bill which was introduced in September 2015 was designed to:

  • Reduce illegal migration
  • Protect UK public services
  • Tackle exploitation of low-skilled worker

The Home Office has confirmed that the MAC Review on policy recommendations will be implemented in autumn 2016 and April 2017. The following changes are policy. The Migration Advisory Committee were commissioned by UKVI to advise on restricting Tier 2, to skills shortages and experts who specialise within their respective fields.

Points Based System Calculator – Need an Assessment 02078368505

The Points Based System Calculator has now been removed from the UK Visas and Immigration Website.

The Points Based System Calculator is an assessment tool which helps applicants identify their eligibility to meet the points requirements for a work or study visa. It may only be used for Points Based System visa applications under Tiers 1, 2, 4 and 5.

Due to the varying complexities and evolution of the UK immigration rules, particularly in the most recent years. The Points Based System Calculator no longer serves a significant purpose for the assessment of verifying an applicant under the Points Based System.
